VOLKSWAGEN has unveiled further details surrounding its new 'hot diesel' Golf model.
The Golf GTD will use a 167bhp, 2.0-litre diesel engine to propel it to a top speed of 138mph and from zero to 62mph in 8.1 seconds.
Available with a six-speed manual or DSG dual-clutch transmission, the new Golf diesel hot-hatch will still be able to achieve 53.3mpg on the combined cycle, will produce emissions of 139 g/km CO2 and, according to Volkswagen, will cover a potential 640 miles on a single tank of fuel.
Volkswagen has announced exterior modifications for the new model, too, including a front bumper borrowed from the petrol hot-hatch GTI model, chrome work around the grille and unique 17-inch black alloys.
Inside, the model will benefit from a flat-bottomed steering wheel, leather gear lever and a standard tartan interior that differs slightly from the retro-inspired GTI version
The first deliveries will take place on June 22, with prices starting at £21,850.
