Get to know Robinsons Motor Group

Christine Cross, SKODA
Sales Manager at Robinsons SKODA Norwich

"I joined Robinsons Motor Group as a Transaction Manager after working with a smaller, local SKODA dealer in Attleborough. The SKODA brand was a very underestimated, but I have been with them for nearly 20 years and seen first hand how they've become one of the most dependable brands around. When I heard Robinsons were looking for staff I was excited to join a bigger, family-run business that offered better prospects. Working with such friendly, welcoming people and having a good supportive team behind me is easily the best part of my job. When I'm not busy with SKODA, I enjoy spending time with family and doing up my house by the sea, which is sure taking a long time!"

Favourite model: Octavia VRs. It's such amazing value for money and drives well. It's a fun all-rounder with a large boot making it a great family car. The New Octavia VRs 2017 is due any day and I cannot wait to try it.

Mark Allman, Mercedes-Benz
General Manager at Mercedes-Benz of Norwich

"In 2001 I joined Mercedes-Benz of Norwich as a Sales Executive. The reputation of Robinsons as a family business is what made me want to join the company and it's what still keeps me here, 16 years later. I'll never forget when I was first offered the position of Branch Manager at Mercedes-Benz of King's Lynn in 2004. Being part of this team has allowed me to see the company grow each year. Mercedes-Benz, to me, is the best brand in the world. It’s been great being part of a brand that has seen so much growth over the years and long may it continue. In my free time I enjoy travelling, painting, reading, spending time with my family and trying to keep fit with my gym membership.
Favourite model: The Mercedes-Benz GLE is my choice for comfort and practicality.

Martin Browne, Robinsons Motor Group
Used Car Manager

"I joined Robinsons Motor Group in 1989 as a Used Car Sales Executive and it was simply a fantastic job get at that age. Robinsons Motor Group is a family business that works hard and gets excellent results and I'm proud to have been a part of it for the last 28 years. One of my fondest memories with the company is when I took home my first company car - a Polo Fox in flat grey with 4 gears and no electric windows, central locking or rear wash wipe. Outside of work, I'm an avid sailor and cyclist - recently completing a charity bike ride from London to Manchester."

Favourite model: Corrado VR6. I had 20 of them in the day!

Merelina Davies, Robinsons Motor Group
Marketing Department, Creative Design

"I joined Robinsons in 2015 as their Creative Designer. I love working with all the different brands. Previously, I was used to working with just one brand and now I can communicate to customers with very different brand led values and styles. One of the most fun jobs I've done was when the BBC Radio One festival came to Norwich and we got really behind the event and created music inspired imagery for each brand. What makes each day fun and interesting is that each brand has their own identity. From performance luxury models in the Mercedes and Audi range to more family led brands like Volkswagen and SKODA, every day is different. Outside of work I am a very active person. I bike to work every day and play golf and do many active classes in the evenings."

Favourite model: I would have to say the Mercedes G wagon. Having never driven it, I still just love to see it in the showroom. It’s so out there that it makes me smile - a dream car to one day build up to!

Jason Laws, Auto Devotion
Sales Manager for Kings Lynn, Peterborough South & Central

"I joined Auto Devotion in July 2007 as a Sales Executive in Norwich on Hall Road. Prior to joining, I had spend 8 years working in the motor trade. I joined Auto Devotion and Robinsons because I felt I needed more of a challenge and wanted to work for a company with more chances of progression. My favourite memory during my last 10 years with Auto Devotion was when the CEO of the company asked me to open and run our first Auto Devotion location in Peterborough. It wasn’t an easy decision for me as it was 2 hours to work and 2 hours back driving because at that ime I lived in Norwich - but I took the chance. Three years later, I opened a second dealership in Peterborough and in 2004 another in King's Lynn. I really am Mr. Auto Devotion. I love dealing with used cars…it’s all I know! It's a great feeling when all the vehicles are vetted and come through the last owners, and that extra support I get being part of a large automotive group. When I'm not immersing myself in the used car world, I try to play golf on Sunday mornings and socialise with friends."

Favourite model: If I had to choose, it would probably be a Volkswagen for their reliability and fantastic styles.

Barry Alexander, Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz Group Sales Manager

"In December 1996, I joined the group as a Trainee Used Car Sales Executive at Volkswagen Norwich. I was previously working for a large PLC company selling Peugeot cars, but the opportunity to start with Robinsons and Volkswagen was not to be missed. The difference in Robinsons' approach to staff and customers was immediately noticeable and has continued throughout my 21 years with the company. I was also a huge Volkswagen fan having owned a 70’s Beetle, Polo and 2 Golfs when I was younger.

One of the most memorable times in my career was being invited to attend the AMG GT launch at the factory in Affalterbach - this was the world premiere and featured a line-up of every AMG model produced. Prior to the evening we were taken to Hockenheim race circuit where we raced E63s, CLS 63s, SL63s and even SLS GTs. A money-can’t-buy experience and never to be forgotten with class leaders, innovative...the best or nothing!

When I'm not living and breathing Mercedes-Benz, I enjoy my family time, coastal walks and good pub grub."

Favourite model: New car would be GLE SUV as it suits my driving style and personal needs. Old car would be the SL Gullwing, if I had a spare million or so!

Andrew McCrostie, Volkswagen
Brand Director

"I joined Robinsons Motor Group in March of 1987 as a Mercedes-Benz Sales Executive. At the time, I Ioved the brand and wanted a career change from retail management. During my many years with the group, I have been lucky enough to meet my wife, who was working for Mercedes-Benz UK at the time. Now working for Volkswagen, I love that it's a great brand that everyone knows, plus it comes with a fantastic team of people to work with across the region. When I'm not working across the region for Robinsons Volkswagen, I love cooking/entertaining, cycling and holidays spent in Devon with my family."

Favourite model: I must admit, it changes daily! I'm currently loving driving the Tiguan R Line 240 PS - it's stunning.

Andrew Hambley, Volkswagen
Brand Manager & Head of Business for Volkswagen Cars & Commercial Vehicles, Norwich

"I came to Robinsons on September 21, 1998. Robinsons were - and still are - THE company to work for in Norwich. Some of the best times we have had were getting involved in local events. The Norfolk Show always stands out, with Carl, Andrew, Ian and Eammon all a bit sunburnt and tired, standing in the beer tent after a very, very long day. To me, Robinsons and Volkswagen both mean "family," and that's what being with the company is like - being part of a family. In my free time, I like boats, watches and clay shooting."

Favourite model: In previous times, the Mercedes S-Class – I used to commute over 45,000 miles a year in one for more years than I care to remember. My current favourite is the Volkswagen Touareg.
