Get to know the different types:

Electric Vehicle (EV)

An electric vehicle (EV), also referred to as an electric drive vehicle, is a vehicle which uses one or more electric motors for propulsion.

Mild hybrid electric vehicle (mHEV)

In-between a conventional petrol vehicle and a full hybrid. A mild hybrid uses a smaller battery, and a motor-generator that can both create electricity and help boost the petrol engine’s output. Mild hybrid vehicles aren’t capable of all-electric propulsion.

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV)

Combination of conventional hybrid electric vehicle (electric motor, internal combustion engine) & all-electric vehicle (plug to connect to the electrical grid).

Battery electric vehicle (BEV)

Type of electric vehicle that uses energy stored in rechargeable battery packs for propulsion.

What to consider?

New Leon Estate Hybrid

Costs

Filling-up the ‘tank’ isn’t such a burden; charging a battery from empty to full costs a lot less.

Emissions

All-electric vehicles produce no tailpipe emissions, so the CO2 output of your daily commute = zero.

Journeys

Both the driving range of electric and charging locations across the UK is always improving.

Aftercare

Fewer parts than a petrol or diesel engine vehicle make servicing easier.

Driving

When you put your foot down, the acceleration is instantaneous, for more responsive driving.

Financing

Currently, the government offers grants for car buyers making the switch to electric.

Charging

A growing network of superfast public chargers add to workplace and home charging options.

Savings

Driving electric or hybrid offers reduced car tax (VED rates and Benefit in Kind for business drivers).
